Kenya Seed Company produces several varieties of
Seed Wheat and therefore farmers have a wide selection
of varieties suitable for a particular ecological
zone. While some varieties are suitable for all altitudes
others thrive well in a particular designated altitudinal
range
Certified seed wheat used by Kenyan farmers represents
only 40% while the rest of the farmers use farm-saved
seed. A lot of efforts are in place, to promote the
use of certified seeds which are free from weeds like
wild oats. Due to the diversity of seed wheat varieties,
the information about these varieties, is covered
by a table on the next page.
